Barlume Beach: The Hamptons’ Newest Bet on an Italian Summer in the States

Barlume Beach brings LDV Hospitality's Mediterranean-inspired dining and design to Montauk Harbor, with 19 rooms, 19 marina slips, and a menu built for all-day dining.

There are two sides to the Hamptons: the quiet one, complete with hydrangea-filled yards, sandy beaches, sprawling estates, and a splash of New York influence that seeps into the shopping and restaurants; and the louder side, which can be found (and heard) at waterside beach clubs fueled by magnum rosé bottles and a crowd that wants to be seen.

The newest spot in that second category is Barlume Beach, a 19-key hotel and beach club on Montauk Harbor with 19 marina slips for easy boat access. It's LDV Hospitality's second project out east, following its 2024 reopening of The Maidstone in East Hampton, and it's an extension of the group's Flatiron restaurant Barlume, the source of both its Mediterranean menu and its name – Italian for "glimmer."

Design & Character

The property splits into two sections, with the restaurant getting most of the attention, and the motel-style rooms just a few steps away. The vibe here is clubby and loud, so it’s a great spot for people who are chasing that vibe. In terms of design, guests will notice splashes of turquoise and butter yellow, making it feel young and vibrant. Speaking of young and vibrant, that crowd is the same.

The Rooms

The hotel rooms are spacious and bright, with big beds and nice glass showers. Some open onto small backyards with grassy patches and picnic tables, while others look directly onto the water. It’s worth confirming before you book which room you have, since not every room gets a water view (most face the parking lot instead). Each room is stocked with Parachute linens and Ortigia Sicilia Fico d'India bath products.

The Food & Drink

This is a restaurant first, hotel second. Chef Francesco Battisti trained under Michelin-starred chefs in Italy before running kitchens in Bangkok, Jakarta, and Doha, and his Mediterranean menu is built around an all-day arc, from lunch through "linner," the property's signature meal that bridges afternoon into evening. The menu carries over a few Flatiron staples, including the blue crab toast and lobster arrabbiata, and adds seasonal items like a lobster roll, a spicy fin de claire, and a plateau de mer. The bar has it all, complete with cocktails that use local, seasonal ingredients.

Amenities

The rooms themselves are light on amenities, since the restaurant does most of the work here. Live music runs from 8 PM Friday through Sunday, with additional sets starting at 3 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. Lake Montauk boat charters run through the season for guests arriving or departing by water, and the property's marina slips are available for daytime docking or season-long rental. Wellness classes and other programming are added sporadically through the summer, so it's worth checking what's scheduled during your stay.

Location & Neighborhood Recs

Barlume Beach sits directly on Montauk Harbor, about 5 miles from Montauk Point and a 15-minute drive from the Hamptons beaches and Montauk Point Lighthouse. A car is definitely needed if you're staying here, since there isn't much within walking distance. Luckily, Ditch Plains Beach, a Hamptons favorite, is a 10-minute drive away, along with the town of Montauk itself. The location also puts you in close reach of Montauk's other lively spots, including Surf Lodge, Bounce Beach Club, and Gurney's, so wherever your day takes you, Barlume Beach is never far from the action.
