Tucked on a quiet street in Paris’ Marais district, the unassuming façade of Boudoir des Muses hides its history: it was once a brothel, an 18th-century theater, and a convent before being abandoned for more than a century. Since the end of 2024, it has been a boutique hotel with 28 rooms and a lot of attitude.
The cozy hotel becomes a vibrant community gathering space in the evenings, when the open octagonal atrium hosts everything from poetry readings to aerial ballerinas and drawing workshops. On the basement level are two lavish private spas bookable for solo, couple, or small-group experiences.
Design & Character
Designed by Maison Malapert, the building’s past lives inform a theatrical interior filled with religious references turned on their head. A serpent-patterned carpet leads to a marble reception desk topped with a confessional grille, while the dramatic atrium is crowned by a grand Directoire-era glass-and-steel dome.
Custom furniture blends varnished wood, marble, brass, and graphic velvet. Spiraling galleries lead to the rooms across five floors, with a black parquet floor, sculptural details, velvet banquettes, and curios that keep the atmosphere closer to a private Marais salon than a conventional hotel lobby.
The Rooms
The 28 rooms include four suites with separate living rooms. Expect plush bedding, jewel-toned cushions, cream velvet curtains, boucle seating, gray-marble bathrooms, and sensual portraits. Some rooms retain period wooden columns, while others open onto Paris rooftops.
Le Loft is the largest accommodation, with room for up to six people, exposed beams, vintage rugs, a sofa bed, two double beds, and a panoramic view of the atrium.
Food & Drink
The bar serves shareable plates such as stracciatella with seasonal vegetables, salmon sashimi, and beef cecina with truffle butter. Cocktails include inventive spritzes and signatures named for muses and goddesses, along with alcohol-free options.
In the morning, an ample breakfast buffet offers pastries, breads, fruit, French cheeses, eggs, and charcuterie.
Amenities
The standout amenity is the atrium’s programming. Poetry, tarot readings, aerial performances, musicians, authors, burlesque, and circus-style acts turn the hotel into a genuine neighborhood gathering place.
Spa & Wellness
Two private bath salons hide below ground. Venus features pink and emerald tones, a whirlpool, and sauna. Hédoné is carved from ancient stone and includes a heated pool and hammam. Both spaces offer rain showers, a bar, vanity area, and Bluetooth sound system.
