Why it works
Hotel Snapshot
Entertainment has the power to influence and shape society. Over the past few years, we’ve witnessed it firsthand as captivating series like “Yellowstone,” “Landman,” “Dutton Ranch,” “The Madison,” and “Ransom Canyon” have inspired people all over the world to take a break from bustling cities and relaxing beach vacations in order to experience the Wild West for themselves. As breathtaking as Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana are, if you’re on the hunt for something as centrally located as it is authentically Western, Fort Worth is the prime destination. Specifically, a stay at Bowie House, Auberge Collection—a Two-MICHELIN-Key hotel brimming with high-end cowboycore decor and amenities that will make you want to stay for far longer than a single night.
Located in the heart of the Fort Worth Cultural District—a mere 15-minute drive from the historic (and highly shoppable) Fort Worth Stockyards, and just over half an hour from Dallas—Bowie House, a 106-room boutique hotel, offers a front-row seat to some of the country’s most storied Western traditions without being too far off the beaten path.
Design & Character
From the outside, Bowie House looks like a chic modern museum that could hold anything from art to detailed dioramas. Inside the contemporary regionalism property, a neo-Western world awaits, with elegant interiors, vibrant design, and Texas-inspired luxury seen across the in-house art gallery, layered decor, and sumptuous guest rooms. Fun Fact: The property was featured heavily in Taylor Sheridan’s “Landman,” where it was the site of an oil industry gathering, not to mention the summer respite for the mother-daughter Norris gals, women built on the cornerstones of high-end taste and rough Texan edges.
The Rooms
Bowie House is a four-story, 106-room boutique hotel with 88 studios, 12 lofts, and six suites, including a 1,800-square-foot signature suite. Traditional Texas ranch life elements are curated across the accommodations, including leather furniture with nailhead trim, boot benches, boot jacks, plush faux-fur throws, and classic bandana-print motifs.
The Food & Drink
Bricks & Horses, the property’s signature restaurant, dishes up brunch, lunch, and dinner, with a mix of light bites, breakfast classics, sandwiches, land and sea large plates, and desserts. Of all the high-end options on the menu—tuna tartare, gussied greens, caviar cowboy service, and an assortment of steaks and chops—the Ritz & Dips is a guest favorite. The popular appetizer consists of Garlic Artichoke, Pimento Cheese, and Bacon & Jalapeño dips paired with Ritz Crackers.
In addition to the indoor signature restaurant, Bowie House also has patio dining at The Yard and poolside bites and bevs at Whinny’s. Whipped Feta Toast or a Tee-Total grilled halloumi Caesar bowl by the pool? Delish.
Meanwhile, if you’re solely searching for a thirst-quenching craft cocktail, a visit to The Bar at Bowie House is a must. The Wild Dill Martini, Bowie House Old Fashioned, and Damn Fine Ranch Water are standout menu items.
Amenities
Bowie House might draw crowds with its creative take on Western themes, but it keeps them entertained with a robust wellness offering, scheduled Mahjong nights, weekly two-step and line-dancing demos, an expansive in-house art gallery (culminating across 20 years of dedicated collection), and the Ranch to Table Dinner Series.
Of these, the moody and immaculate Ash Spa is particularly noteworthy. The Biologique Recherche-backed spa boasts a curated offering of facials, massages, dry brushing, cupping, and LED light therapy, as well as access to a stunning pink Himalayan salt dry sauna and steam room.
Location & Neighborhood Recs
The Fort Worth Cultural District is considered not only a prime destination within Texas but also across the entire nation. Just beyond downtown, this walkable neighborhood is a hot spot for museums, galleries, gardens, and shops, making it a suitable pit stop for people of nearly all preferences. Within close proximity to cosmopolitan Dallas and rural Texas, and ripe with Western heritage, Fort Worth is the perfect in-between for folks looking to lean into the current cowboycore craze without necessarily getting dust on their boots.
