Why it works
Hotel Snapshot
Cerro Tusa Springs is a boutique eco-hotel with just a handful of private luxury cabins and hotel-style suites starting at $162 per night. This lush property has four pools and wellness-focused amenities prioritizing a connection with nature at the base of one of Colombia’s most sacred mountains.
Just south of Medellín, past the coffee farms and winding roads of the Colombian mountainside, lies the world’s largest natural pyramid, Cerro Tusa, believed to have sacred healing properties. And hidden just between the lush trees is Cerro Tusa Springs, a place you have to be looking for to know where to find it. At check-in, you’re greeted with a signature drink and breathtaking views of the mountain while the hotel blends seamlessly into the surrounding nature, creating the perfect invitation to slow down and enjoy the view. It’s a true wellness retreat combining nature and on-site experiences to care for your body and mind.
Design and Character
Cerro Tusa Springs was designed mindfully with sustainable materials from the Colombian countryside. Private villas offer floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the surrounding landscape and a natural rock pool to soak outside. The stone pathways around the property are lined with lush foliage, making you feel fully immersed in the surrounding nature. The rooms are equipped with modern amenities to keep you comfortable, with nods to the flora and fauna of Colombia in every detail.
And yet, the most powerful design feature is the view of Cerro Tusa from every corner of the property, one that is sure to take your breath away.
The Rooms
Cerro Tusa Springs has private villas, hotel-style suites, and an independent, two-floor house. Casa Colibri, one of the private villas, offers two bedrooms, a large living area, a full-size kitchen with a fully stocked mini-fridge, and a hammock loft that hangs over it all. Outside, there is a private outdoor tub and fire pit, all designed to help you unplug from the distractions of modern society while still offering modern conveniences like air conditioning and hot water.
Included with each stay is a local breakfast, with fresh fruit and the finest Colombian coffee.
The Food & Drink
Guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner from the in-house restaurant, Capote, which is located near the entrance and top pool deck of the resort. Choose from poolside couches, tables immersed in a treetop canopy, or a rustic covered seating area to the left of the pool.
The restaurant's mission is to source food that is as good for you as it is for the environment around it. Dishes are inspired by Colombian cuisine, with modern touches using all local, fresh, and sustainably sourced ingredients.
Amenities
Cerro Tusa Springs offers four pools, one of which sources water directly from the surrounding spring, along with a Turkish sauna, cold plunge, and experiences that are designed to reconnect your body, mind, and spirit.
Each one is crafted to honor both you and the world around you. Take advantage of energetic or lymphatic massages, chakra alignment, cacao or cannabis ceremonies, tarot readings, or a sound bath to balance your body poolside. More adventurous guests can hike to the top of Cerro Tusa, harvest honey with a local beekeeper, take a horseback or e-bike tour, or walk along the canopy bridges located around the property.
Location & Neighborhood Recs
Cerro Tusa Springs is truly off the beaten path, located along the mountainside in Venecia, Antioquia, Colombia, roughly 1.5 hours from Medellín. The resort is so remote that you'll need a 4x4 or one of the local mototaxis to take you up. The local pueblo is a 15-minute ride down from the resort, and while small, there are plenty of local restaurants, bakeries, and even a museum to explore. One restaurant that stands out from the rest is La Graciela. Its menu is a visual and gastronomic homage to the Antioquian region—a place where you are meant to feel at home through every bite.
