Hotel Snapshot at D Maris Bay

D Maris Bay is a 196-room luxury resort on the Turkish Riviera’s Datça Peninsula, with six private beaches, six restaurants (including an outpost of Salt Bae’s Nusr-Et steakhouse), 11 bars and lounges, a wellness spa, and exceptional service. With 5 well-earned stars—priced from $449 (€400) per night—this private cliffside property sits above a horseshoe bay where the Aegean and Mediterranean converge, making it a destination hotel that beckons you to stay right where you are (and we feel just fine about that).

Good things should always come easily, yet the best places can be incredibly hard to find. Just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Turkish Riviera town of Marmaris lies a place beyond the pines—where you won’t find Eva Mendes or Ryan Gosling, but instead one of the most breathtaking destination hotels along Türkiye’s turquoise coast.

D Maris Bay is hidden from plain sight, but it doesn’t hide its luxurious intent to offer everything on its own terms. Six private beaches, six notable restaurants, 11 bars and lounges, high-end shops with one-of-a-kind collaborations, pop-up resident DJs, a wellness spa with some of the most revered master brands, two padel courts, and an alpine funicular taking guests to and fro make it impossibly easy to access every kind of experience and vibe desirable without ever having to leave the grounds. But this isn’t some kind of “flash” Disneyland that skews more toward luxe, club-like energy than quality (you know the type). D Maris Bay manages to make every touchpoint, every bite, and every beach feel completely different and—most importantly—memorable.

Design & Character at D Maris Bay

When you think of D Maris Bay’s look and feel, one word comes to mind: open.

No single vantage point at the resort loses the peninsula’s plot. While you’ll find hints of modern art and large-scale installations throughout the property, the hotel’s design puts the outdoor views, lush, forest-like surroundings, and oceanfront landscape at the center. Neutral tones alongside granite and marble interiors reinforce the relaxing, intimate nature of the individual guest experience without losing the architecture’s overall expansiveness (which stands out by blending in).

All restaurants and bars exist in open, indoor-outdoor spaces. All rooms bring guests eye-to-eye with the sunrise and sunset. Floor-to-ceiling windows surround the lobby, so you never miss a view (or an ocean-air breeze).

The Rooms at D Maris Bay

A connection to the great outdoors runs through every room at D Maris Bay. From standard rooms and suites (including a duplex presidential suite) to a single, exclusive villa, all 196 rooms raise the question of how big the balcony will be, or whether there will be one at all. Travertine bathrooms with tubs that occupy their own spaces (and views) are just more ways the hotel infuses its private, retreat-style aesthetic and high-tier taste into every moment. And if you’re a VIP, expect nightly gifts to take home as a keepsake—for example, a woven beach bag you would actually buy for yourself.

The Food & Drink at D Maris Bay

You won't go hungry at D Maris Bay; the hotel’s dining options offer an embarrassment of culinary riches. Whether you’re in the mood for high-end Japanese fusion at Zuma, authentic Italian at Aurora Capri, endless Mediterranean dips and kebab at D Maris Kitchen, the best fried potatoes you’ve ever had at French-inspired La Guérite, or you just want to break plates inscribed with written wishes (just like the Greeks would) at Manos, all of the hotel’s six highly acclaimed (and highly priced) restaurants take you from one world to another. The ingredients are best-in-class, and the vibes are strong across locations.

Just note that you’ll want to use the Shazam app to follow La Guérite’s DJ lineup. However, most of the mixes are so niche, you simply won’t be able to find them (we tried and failed).

The Amenities at D Maris Bay

Yes, of course, there are plenty of amenities to match the hotel’s 5-star energy. However, six beaches make D Maris Bay truly one of a kind. Bay Beach is the most accessible, family-friendly beach on the property, but things get interesting once you board the private (free) boat transport that promptly takes guests from one private beach to another. The most talked-about beach is, ironically, Zuma x Silence Beach, which is adults-only and requires you to sunbathe in silence. For those seeking exclusivity and VIP status, Maris Beach brings the heat and is the only place you’ll find iced matcha on the grounds. Nearby beaches include Manos and La Guérite, and you can rent your own Hidden Beach if silence and matcha feel too “regular.”

Location & Neighborhood Recs at D Maris Bay

Exploring nearby Marmaris (still almost an hour away) seems last on guests’ lists, given the hotel’s remote location. That’s fine, though, since there are many ways to feel like you’ve explored without ever leaving the property—unless you’re chartering a private yacht, of course.

Through the hotel, you can book a day trip on a custom-made motor yacht with Alia Open Sea to take in nearby islands, including the 1,800-year-old Kamelya Island Monastery. Mytha Spa offers on-site ways to unwind in the shade, with a full-service steam room, sauna, and indoor pool. You can also shop at the hotel, with high-end boutiques like Cult Gaia, a custom Dior collection, and Eres.
