Tucked into historic Fort Canning Park, METT Singapore offers 84 rooms and suites starting at $350, blending heritage and style with a strong focus on wellness and fun.
About 15 minutes on foot from Orchard Road, Singapore’s retail and entertainment nerve, METT Singapore adds to the city’s roster of excellent hotels. Its enviable hilltop location in historic Fort Canning Park, surrounded by Singapore’s lush tropical foliage, sets it apart. Location is only part of the appeal, though. METT, the first Asian outpost of Dubai-based Sunset Hospitality Group, delivers old-world charm reimagined for guests who work hard and unwind in style. Heritage here doesn’t feel stuffy or overbearing; it feels refined and stylish. METT is a 5-star hotel with all the basics plus an exceptional wellness offering.
Design & Character at METT Singapore

Even without its elevated position, the statuesque building it inhabits is a head-turner, and it turns 100 this year. Built in 1926, it has served many purposes over the decades, including as the British Far East Command's administration building. Canadian designer Jeffrey Wilkes and his team have given it a contemporary makeover that accentuates its history while adding oodles of style. A defining feature is a grand central staircase that makes the elevator feel optional. A black-and-white theme runs through the hotel, recalling Singapore’s colonial black-and-white bungalows, with lush potted plants, coffee-table books, upholstery, and wallpaper adding pops of color.
The Rooms at METT Singapore

The hotel’s entrance and reception are small, but the light-filled rooms surprise with their extraordinarily high ceilings. A neutral palette of white, beige, and warm wood enhances the sense of space. Nine categories of rooms and suites are available, varying in size and view. The largest, the Fort Canning Suite, reaches 160 square meters, while the 120-square-meter METT Suite has the property’s only private balcony. The rooms, while intentionally sparse, come with all creature comforts, including fluffy bathrobes, plush slippers, satin hangers, and a fully stocked Maxi Bar. Small but well-stocked, it holds premium spirits, wines, and cocktail kits for mixing your own drinks, so you don’t have to leave your room for a nightcap. The bathrooms, by contrast, are bold and glamorous, and a couple even offer spectacular views.
The Food & Drink at METT Singapore

L’Amo Bistrò del Mare has blue-and-white nautical interiors, vaulted ceilings, and a stunning outdoor terrace. Imported from Dubai, the hotel’s culinary director, Italian chef Daniele Sperindio, who’s overseen a Michelin-starred restaurant, takes care of the menu here, and it’s the place for seafood-forward dishes. Highlights include Le Tre Tartare, with red prawn and caviar, tuna, and sea bass with mullet roe, and the Vitello Tonnato, a slow-cooked veal served with tuna sauce and capers. For a more relaxed setting, head to Canning Bar & Lounge, an all-day dining spot and bar.
As daylight fades and the lights come on, the music starts. The bar’s inventive cocktails tell stories in a glass and pay homage to both the hotel’s park location and the city beyond. Choose from tipples that feature bold spices, recreate a bygone era in a sip, or offer a playful take on an old wartime signal code.

METT’s compact, cozy common areas feel like home rather than a hotel, making it easy to relax and unwind. The Library, with its sectioned seating areas, is the perfect spot for a quick meeting or a bit of reading.
The hotel’s beating heart is its outdoor and wellness areas, which include two padel courts, two swimming pools, and a 300-square-meter gym. A roster of classes, from HIIT and aerial yoga to reformer Pilates, ensures there’s always something to look forward to.

Fort Canning Park was Singapore’s first botanical garden, founded by Stamford Raffles in 1822. Today, its Raffles Garden and Spice Garden are well worth a wander, with or without a guide. Just a short walk away, the National Museum of Singapore is a fantastic place to learn more about the island nation’s layered past. Beyond that, Orchard Road offers plenty of high-end shopping and dining. For added fun, hop into a vintage Vespa sidecar and explore the Lion City with a guide, discovering the highlights and the best photo stops.
