Our Latest Love Letters to Waterfront Stays
RestNest’s Serene Wave Estate (West Kelowna, BC, Canada): Wake up to Lake Okanagan shimmering right outside your window. That’s basically your morning alarm at this estate. A 5-bedroom, 6-bathroom waterfront escape, it balances sleek, sophisticated design with spaces that actually feel livable. Think big open living rooms with sunlight pouring in, cozy corners for resting, and a dining area that spills straight onto the terrace. Outside, the lake is your playground—dock it, swim it, paddle it, or just lounge with a glass of something cold and let the water do the talking.
Vose’s The Asher (Belgium, Wisconsin): Right on a private stretch of Lake Michigan, The Asher has water views right outside your door. The main floor is open-concept, with a chef-ready kitchen, living and dining areas, and a gas fireplace, making it perfect for enjoying time with friends and family. Outside, the patio, fire pit, and massive hot tub make it easy to unwind. The lawn leads directly to the lake for swimming, paddleboarding, or just soaking up the view. It’s the kind of place you could easily spend the whole weekend without leaving.
Sanders’ 12 Viridian Park Drive (Santa Rosa Beach, Florida): Here, four bedrooms, a loft, and plenty of nooks make it easy for up to ten guests to spread out. The main floor is bright and breezy with high ceilings, sunlit hardwoods, and a kitchen that makes cooking fun. Private balconies overlook the pool, while suites make sure everyone gets a little privacy. Head outdoors, and the pool and spa are ready for a morning dip or late-afternoon hang, and the gas grill makes alfresco dinners a no-brainer. Bikes come with the rental, so exploring Seaside, the Beach Club, or the WaterColor trails is easy.
Stay Awhile’s Malibu Sand (Malibu, California): Aptly named, this property is steps from the sand. A four-bedroom, four-bath villa, it has views of the Pacific from nearly every room, and an open floor plan that’s built for hanging out. The oceanside primary suite even has its own hot tub, perfect for sunrise soaks. A hot tub and private beach access make it easy to spend all day outside, whether you’re paddleboarding, sunbathing, or strolling to Nobu or the Malibu Pier.
Luxus’ Hale Nanea (Waimea, Hawaii): Ocean views, infinity pool, and that signature Hawaiian vibe are what define Hale Nanea. This stunning villa sits in Mauna Lani, complete with Pacific views on one side and championship golf greens on the other. Step onto the lanai, and it’s basically impossible to tell where indoor ends and outdoor begins. The infinity pool practically begs for an afternoon dip, and the nearby Mauna Lani Beach Club gives you access to soft sand and reef snorkeling.

A Spotlight on Parker Reserve,
The Magic of Mid-Century & A-Frame Retreats
Meet Ted, the mind behind Parker Reserve, where architecture meets the outdoors in the most thoughtful way. Alongside co-host Min, Ted has transformed historic and modern homes into beautiful escapes just outside Columbus, Ohio. From restoring a mid-century modern stay to crafting a light-filled A-frame cabin, Ted’s vision is all about creating spaces that spark inspiration, slow the pace, and make every stay feel a little extraordinary.

How did your global travels, from Singapore to Sri Lanka, influence the way Parker Reserve properties are designed and experienced?
“Our time living in Asia exposed us to a different level of hospitality and guest service. While the architecture and design of the home is something that we put lots of intentional focus on, we take the most pride in offering our guests an unexpectedly high level of hospitality and guest service.”
The homes look very intentional. What are a few design elements that define the Parker Reserve aesthetic?
“We wanted to lean into the era of the home and the original 1970s design, yet modernize it so all the comforts one would expect today are provided. We were adamant to keep certain elements, such as the sunken bathtub and original wallpaper, whenever possible. It was also fun to source vintage furniture and décor that our guests have loved. There is a story about practically every piece in our properties, and we can tell you where we purchased it and why it spoke to us.”
Are there particular architects, designers, or places that inspired the look and feel of the properties?
“Our Parker Modern project is currently under renovation and is a white postmodern architectural home. We have engaged the original owner and architect Gene Milhoan to help us in the renovation over 50 yrs after he first built the home. He lived in the home as a newly trained architect and raised his family there, but sold the home nearly 40 years ago. It’s a fitting circle of life that he gets to help us reimagine in his twilight years one of his early projects of significance. His original inspiration when building the home in the 1970s was Le Corbusier and his Villa Savoye project, but we have also felt other architects since then, such as Richard Meier, who are more modern contemporaries who have designed homes with a similar style.”
What does great hospitality look like in a design-forward home rental setting versus a traditional hotel?
“Guests who stay in a thoughtfully designed and curated home know that they are staying in a place full of authenticity from passionate owners. These types of homes are few and far between, but that is what makes finding these types of gems all the more rewarding.”
What kinds of travelers tend to be most drawn to Parker Reserve?
“Whether it's friends visiting for a weekend in Columbus or a place for multi-generational family reunions, we designed Parker Reserve with the goal of creating spaces where groups can come together and create memories. Adults can have a conversation on the patio whilst watching their kids reconnect in nature with creek play, tree swings, or swimming in our natural spring-fed pond. We want guests to embrace nature whilst knowing all their urban needs are still nearby.”
Recipes Above Par? Sounds Delicious
Drinks and a meal to pair with your stay.
Cocktail: Creamy Coconut Mojito
If summer had a signature drink, this would be it. Mint, lime, and a splash of rum meet luscious cream of coconut for a cocktail that feels like a beach in a glass.
How to make:
Start by rimming your glass with sugar, lime zest, and a pinch of salt — that sweet-salty combo is everything. Fill a shaker with fresh mint leaves and give them a little muddle.. Add white rum, lime juice, cream of coconut, and ice, then shake until chilled. Strain into your prepared glass, top with a splash of soda water, and finish with a mint sprig and lime wheel.
Dinner: Baja‑Style Fish Tacos
Add a little taste of the seaside to your table with these easy, flavor-packed fish tacos. Perfect for a relaxed evening in a Residence, they’re fresh, vibrant, and way more fun than a usual weeknight dinner.
How to make:
Pan-fry white fish fillets with a little lime juice, salt, and pepper until crispy and golden. Warm up corn tortillas, shred some cabbage for crunch, and mix a quick sauce with sour cream, lime, and a touch of hot sauce. Pile it all together, top with pico de gallo or avocado slices, and call it a beachside feast. Dinner, done.
