Design & Character
Spanish Gothic and Beaux-Arts details remain visible, including small gargoyle faces above the lobby elevators. The service model is deliberately casual, with online check-in and door codes replacing traditional key cards.
The Rooms
Exposed concrete, tall ceilings, steel-framed windows, muted colors, and select French balconies create a Brooklyn-loft-meets-West-Coast feel. Some suites add brighter furnishings and views of the Eastern Columbia Building.
Food & Drink
Somewhere Special serves cocktails and simple poolside food on the roof, while SparkHouse Café handles morning coffee. The offering is limited but suited to a hotel surrounded by downtown restaurants.
Amenities & Neighborhood
The small rooftop pool is the star, framed by pink striped umbrellas and the building’s Gothic spire. A gym, laundry, Wi-Fi, and housekeeping cover the basics. Grand Central Market, Angels Flight, The Broad, and the Arts District are nearby.
