Hotel Snapshot 

What’s old is new again, especially after a $20 million glow up. The Stoneleigh, one of Dallas’ most storied hotels, recently celebrated a grand re-opening following an extensive renovation. The 102-year-old icon, now part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection, reopened with a reimagined design and culinary program led by Michelin-starred Chef Michael White.

Perched in one of Uptown’s most happening corridors, The Stoneleigh is a welcome re-addition to the neighborhood. Since reopening in May, both hotel stays and reservations at Lions Den have seen strong demand, drawing locals and visitors alike.

Design & Character 

Pulling up to the valet and walking down the dramatic runway into the lobby, you’re immediately transported into an old Hollywood era. The Stoneleigh is the kind of place where you'd want to dress up for a night out. I may have worn a sequin caftan. It felt like the vibe. It’s approachable enough for an after-work cocktail, yet celebratory enough for a milestone dinner.

The 176-room hotel stays true to its classic Dallas glamourous roots while feeling lighter, warmer and more livable than ever. Natural light, rich textures, and touches of velvet and wood bring subtle mid-century-inspired details that soften and modernize the overall feel. During my visit, golden hour bathed the hotel in a warm glow, making the space feel even more special. Despite its prime Uptown location, the lobby and Bar Leonessa felt like a tucked-away oasis.

The Rooms 

The guestrooms continue the hotel’s refined, residential feel with muted neutral tones, layered textures and subtle mid-century-inspired accents, creating a calm and comfortable atmosphere that still feels luxurious and livable. The suites are the crown jewel of the reimagined space, including the Draper Suite, Presidential Suite, Penthouse and Maggie’s Suite, each with apartment-like scale and distinctive design moments that reflect the property’s original inspiration and elevated return.

The Food & Drink 

When dining at Chef White’s masterpiece, Lions Den, I have one strong caution: come hungry. I came prepared after studying the menu before my visit, and there were simply too many items to narrow down. The restaurant is best described as a modern Italian supper club. It’s small and intimate, and reservations were booked up. I actually had to snag an 8 p.m. reservation.

Being in Dallas, I had to try Lions Den’s take on a margarita, the Venetian Margarita. I also sampled the Hibiscus Spritz from the zero-proof menu, which was a refreshing surprise. House-made pastas are the soul of the menu, and the tagliatelle was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. Signature dishes range from a porterhouse presented as both tartare di manzo and grilled striploin, to Dover sole with brown butter and lemon.

Across the corridor, Bar Leonessa serves as the social anchor of the property, with a striking marble bar and thoughtful mixologists by night, then transformed by morning into a sunlit retreat offering European-style pastries, light seasonal bites and terrace seating for an al fresco start to the day.

Amenities 

The standout amenity at The Stoneleigh is its pool, an outdoor sanctuary perfect for a Dallas summer. Daybeds, loungers and oversized umbrellas create a lush terrace that feels like a true escape in the heart of Uptown. Poolside dining, crafted by Chef Michael White, elevates Americana favorites with dishes like lobster rolls and frozen cocktails, positioning it as a summer hotspot alongside the launch of The Stoneleigh Summer Club in partnership with Veuve Clicquot.

Location & Neighborhood Recs 

When visiting Dallas, Uptown is the spot to visit. And The Stoneleigh sits at the heart of it. The hotel is just steps from some of the city’s best cultural and art destinations, along with shopping in West Village and Klyde Warren Park. It’s also perfectly positioned for nightlife, with some of Uptown’s most popular bars, restaurants, and late-night spots all within easy reach.
