Why it works
Hotel Snapshot
There is, quite frankly, little in the world of sophisticated design to rival The Twenty Two hotels. With outposts in London, and the newer, “younger sister” residing in Manhattan’s Union Square, the sheer class and marvelous attention to detail of The Twenty Two properties is simply awe-inspiring.

New York provides a difficult landscape for the “new coolest hotel” or “hottest new social club” to successfully cut through the infamously crowded market. But since opening its doors in February of 2025, The Twenty Two has brought a taste of London to the U.S.’s East Coast, honoring its sister property’s high standard of hospitality while carving out its own distinct design narrative. Tangible keys, dark wood, moody lighting, and the velvet accents that organically transition from the corridors to the on-site restaurant, Café Zaffri, and Members’ Club—not one thing feels out of place.
Design & Character
The hotel, restaurant, and private members' club occupies all nine floors of Manhattan’s landmarked Margaret Louisa Home. The hotel’s ethos is passionate about the art of lingering, so guests are encouraged to lounge amidst the five-star service present in all areas of the hotel—whether that’s over a signature cocktail at the bar, or in front of the Queen Elizabeth portrait just beyond the lobby.

The hotel’s design was imagined by hotelier Navid Mitorabi, and Jamie Reuben of the Reuben brothers. Having co-founded the London property, the pair partnered with real-estate developer and native New Yorker, Michael Chetrit to bring their vision of the property to life.
Though visually stunning, The Twenty Two New York’s approach to design is more subtle than the London location. Guestrooms use velvets and linens that illuminate luxury in a muted way. Nothing feels overly loud or in-your-face, yet every detail is chic and expertly tailored. Hiding in plain sight, it serves as a quiet refuge from Manhattan’s rush.
The Rooms
Holding 76 keys, including 17 suites and a spectacular rooftop penthouse, all guestrooms remain consistent with the design seen in the communal spaces: crisp white linens on the beds, wood floors, velvet headboards, black-and-white bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling drapes, and a spacious closet.
What stands out most are the in-room amenities. Some residences are accompanied with a fully stocked minibar for either a cocktail before your dinner reservation, or a nightcap after your meal. The snack drawer is practically overflowing with treats like Bon Bon Swedish candies, Torres potato chips, and Nespresso coffee pods. The turndown service isn’t over-the-top, but it feels personal, as though you’re the only one staying in the entire hotel. Your sheets are pulled back, a cookie is placed on the nightstand, and a fresh pair of slippers sits by the side of the bed.
The Food & Drink
As one of The Twenty Two’s signature highlights, Café Zaffri serves Mediterranean-inspired dishes for nightly dinner, weekday lunch, and weekend brunch—welcoming both hotel guests and locals. Upon entering, you’re immediately starstruck by the bar and lounge area—reds, deep browns, marble, and burnt orange make up the beautifully-created color palette. Draped curtains frame intimate, candlelit two-person tables, while the main dining room sits beneath a dramatic skylit ceiling. Brown-striped chairs, plush corner seating, and floral wallpaper, all bathed in a warm, orange glow, create an enigmatic setting for a drink or a full meal.

The dining and cocktail experience is exceptional. Standout dishes include homemade flatbread paired with their variation of dips, perfectly crisp fried eggplant, fresh sashimi, levantine dumplings, and the dover sole. For drinks, skip your standard dirty martini. The house-crafted cocktails are in a league of their own and well worth branching out for.

The hotel’s main draw is living inside a high-design London fever dream, but the actual amenities are just as indulgent.

Whilst much of the Club remains private to members, hotel guests are invited to experience select spaces. For wellness needs, there is a 24-hour fitness center with private training available via West Village partner S10 Training. Around-the-clock concierge service, 24-hour room service, being pet-friendly, and dedicated butler assistance will handle every other detail of your stay—all you have to do is ask.

Situated on East 16th Street, where the Flatiron District meets Union Square, the location strikes an ideal balance between central convenience and downtown—you’re steps from the Union Square Greenmarket and Gramercy Park, Fifth Avenue shopping is around the corner, and Soho, The West Village and Lower East Side are all a leisurely walk away.
