Ahead of its 100th anniversary, The Vinoy Resort & Golf Club completed a $110 million restoration that preserved the National Register landmark while adding thoroughly modern comforts and a newly energized dining scene.
Design & Character
Opened with a grand New Year’s Eve party in 1925, the hotel became a St. Petersburg social landmark that welcomed celebrities, presidents, and generations of locals. After an 18-year closure, it reopened in 1992 with a guest tower, tennis, golf, pools, spa, fitness center, and marina.
Restorations protected pecky-cypress beams, Pompeian frescoes, glazed quarry tile, plaster castings, quirky elevators, and the Mediterranean Revival architecture.
The Rooms
The 354 rooms include Ortigia Sicilia bath products, Lynova towels, Frette slippers, robes, reusable PATH water bottles, turndown chocolates, generous closets, thoughtfully placed outlets, and residential-style living areas.
Amenities
The resort fee includes weekend docent history tours, wellness classes, fitness-center access, tennis reservations and racquets, driving-range access, and e-bike rentals. The coastal-inspired Vinoy Spa sits below the main pool.
Food & Drink
Lottie serves French-inspired pastries and coffee. Paul’s Landing and Parasol cover lunch and poolside fare, while Veranda overlooks the marina.
Elliott Aster, from Chicago’s Boka Restaurant Group, is the dinner centerpiece, with Michelin-starred chef Lee Wolen’s pastas, grilled fish, brick chicken, and highly photogenic pull-apart focaccia.

The Vinoy sits in walkable downtown St. Petersburg near Central Avenue, the St. Petersburg Museum of History, the Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement, and the Dalí Museum.
