When you’re craving a woodsy escape in SoCal, Big Bear’s alpine atmosphere always delivers. During summer and fall, people flock to the charming mountain town for hiking, biking, and seasonal happenings like Oktoberfest. In winter and spring, snowboarders and skiers flock to the destination in hopes of shredding some fresh powder before enjoying a little après-ski at Snow Summit. There are plenty of charming restaurants and bars to explore in The Village, but when it comes to upscale accommodations, options are (unsurprisingly) limited. A pioneer in elevating the local hospitality scene, N + P Boutique Lodge puts a modern, design-forward spin on the standard cabin experience. Surrounded by an acre of towering pines, this eight-cabin hotel incorporates timeless interiors and elegant details, rather than leaning into the area’s conventionally rustic aesthetic. Whether you’re planning a peaceful micro-cation from Los Angeles or simply want to explore the mountainous side of Southern California, N + P Boutique Lodge offers the most stylish home base in Big Bear.

When you drive onto the property, you’ll see a row of uniform, dark green standalone cabins adorned with white trim. They face a public outdoor area scattered with BBQs, picnic tables, and hammocks, encouraging guests to start their mornings outside with a cup of coffee. The overall aesthetic combines mountain-lodge coziness with a more eclectic, boutique sensibility. There is no formal lobby or concierge, and all communication and check-in information is handled via text.
The Rooms at N + P Boutique Lodge

All eight cabins at N + P Boutique Lodge maintain their own individual personality and character, and are each named after the owner’s own family members. I stayed in Lucille’s Manor, which is a two-bedroom accommodation with dark blue tones, pink accents, and plenty of floral patterns. In the kitchen, iridescent tiles create a whimsical backsplash, completed by a gallery wall of vintage handheld mirrors. All seven of the main two-bedroom cabins stand at 830 square feet and are outfitted with gas fireplaces and cozy living rooms, but the four-bedroom Orville’s Lodge spans 3,000 square feet of space and boasts a private cedar hot tub and BBQ area outside.

There is no on-site dining, as N + P Boutique Lodge operates more as a cozy cabin rental rather than a full-service hotel. The in-room kitchenette ensures that you have all you need for simple meals throughout your stay, but you’ll definitely want to get out and explore the local dining scene. Favorites include breakfast at Grizzly Manor Cafe (which is right across the street from N+ P), a poke lunch at Tropicali, and dinner at Oakside Restaurant,

While you won’t find an on-site restaurant, spa, or fitness center, the lodge offers simple amenities designed to add ease and comfort to your mountain getaway. Complimentary bicycles can be used to explore town when weather-appropriate, while outdoor seating, hammocks, and barbecue facilities are available to all guests. N + P Boutique Lodge also has complimentary Wi-Fi and dedicated parking for each cabin, and if you book Orville's Lodge, enjoy a private cedar hot tub and game room for larger groups.

N + P Boutique Lodge is less than half a mile from Big Bear Village and the lake, with Snow Summit about one mile away. There are also a few hiking trails nearby, making it an easy home base for those wanting to spend a majority of their time in the great outdoors. During the colder months, its proximity to the slopes makes N+P a practical option for winter sports.
