Let Someone Else Cook Thanksgiving Dinner This Year

By Stacey Leasca

The holiday season is meant to be a break, so this year, let someone else handle the turkey and all the fixings. All you need to do is check into the right hotel.

On the Northern California coast, The Sea Ranch Lodge creates an intimate environment by having just 17 rooms. Here, Thanksgiving dinner runs from 2 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 26, giving you plenty of time for seconds, with herb-roasted turkey, local rockfish, and wild mushroom risotto on the menu. “Being at The Sea Ranch allows you to slow down, and that’s how we want Thanksgiving at The Lodge to feel,” executive chef Ryan Seal shared with Hotels Above Par. Be sure to stay the weekend, as the hotel is hosting a Maker’s Market on Nov. 27 and a forest hike with an edible garden tour on Nov. 28.

Further south, Nina Ruggiero, the senior editorial director of Travel + Leisure, suggests Terranea Resort, which sits above the bluffs of the Palos Verdes Peninsula just outside Los Angeles. “As a resident of LA’s South Bay, I spend a lot of time at Terranea Resort on the gorgeous Palos Verdes Peninsula, whether it’s for a spa and pool day, a fitness class with a view, dinner with a side of whale watching, or a seasonal event like their Harvest Festival in the fall,” she said. “I’m a transplant, and lots of my transplant friends love to go for Thanksgiving dinner for Champagne, lobster, and the more traditional holiday fixings, buffet style. It doesn’t feel like being home for the holidays, but it does feel like a luxe vacation, and I think that has to be a close second.”

Families ready to splurge should look to Blackberry Farm in the foothills of Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains, which is hosting a weekend of Thanksgiving events from Nov. 24 to 29, including a Turkey Trot 5K, family bingo night, and an ornament-making class with Leanne McQueen. “It’s an especially compelling option for a multigenerational family that wants to spend Thanksgiving together without anyone having to host,” Brett Bowen, founder and luxury travel advisor at The Luxury Award Traveler, shared.

For a touch of history, travelers can check into Cape May’s Congress Hall, which has welcomed guests since 1816. Its Thanksgiving package runs Nov. 25 through 30 and includes an overnight stay, welcome cocktails in the Brown Room, and a buffet made with produce from Beach Plum Farm to keep it local. “Thanksgiving is a great time to get away with family and friends and enjoy a slower pace in Cape May, when the beaches are quieter, and the town takes on a cozy charm,” general manager Billy Scott said.

And for anyone ready to leave the country entirely, there’s Vocabolo Moscatelli in Umbria, Italy. “We’ve found that Umbria has become a favored destination for Thanksgiving among U.S. travelers who are ‘in the know,’ which led us at Vocabolo Moscatelli to once again offer our prix fixe Thanksgiving menu, which incorporates holiday favorites but with an Umbrian touch, with farm-fresh ingredients sourced directly from our local partners such as pumpkin, potatoes, onions, fresh eggs, ricotta, and herbs,” co-owner Catharina Lütjens said. “We’ll also host our annual holiday market Thanksgiving weekend on Sunday, Nov. 29, featuring local artists and designers showcasing handcrafted goods, live music, vin brulé, roasted chestnuts, tasty bites, and wine tastings.” She also recommended visiting their spa suite for the occasion, which includes a wood-fired jacuzzi, private sauna, and a separate glasshouse with its own wood-burning fireplace. All you need to do is show up hungry. And maybe bring a few takeout containers for leftovers, just in case.

The Nancy Meyers Thanksgiving Guide

By Ruby Gregg

I know it’s only November 5th, but the holiday countdown is officially on, with Thanksgiving three weeks away. Whether you have the blessing (or curse) of hosting your loved ones this year, one universal truth unites us: no one throws a holiday bash quite like Nancy Myers.

The holiday season practically demands an annual rewatch of comfort classics like The Holiday and It’s Complicated, mostly because we’re all secretly daydreaming about living inside those kitchens. The enduring appeal of a Nancy Meyers interior lies in its effortless hospitality.

Each space is composed with intention, but isn’t too precious to host a crowd. Though she’s not the only one who can inspire your Thanksgiving table settings. To recreate that lived-in warmth this Thanksgiving, look to these properties for design lessons and tips.

Think of Cotswolds retreats like The Pig-near Bath as a sister to Erica Barry’s iconic Hamptons kitchen from Something’s Gotta Give: abundant, unbuttoned, and places to actually live. Despite the different settings, the hosting philosophy is the same: spaces built for connection, brought to life through stacked cookbooks, open shelving, and warm lamplight. To mimic that atmosphere, skip decorative filler. Like Erica Barry, allow your counters to be shaped by what you actually cook with. For your table, swap formal floral arrangements for linens topped with ironstone dishes served family-style, plus candles in vintage brass holders.

Famed for hosting the Kennedys on their honeymoon, Montecito’s San Ysidro Ranch channels the exact spirit of Jane Adler’s kitchen in It’s Complicated, which is entirely built around the garden. To bring that easy warmth home for Thanksgiving, style your kitchen island with edible decor: bowls piled with seasonal pomegranates and persimmons, and thick cutting boards with warm bread ready to slice, and let the harvest take full control.

Jane Adler may rule the kitchen, but Nick Parker’s vineyard in The Parent Trap is all about curating a proper arrival for guests. Appellation Healdsburg captures a similar Sonoma mood, welcoming guests straight into the kitchen with a glass in hand instead of a formal check-in desk. Bring that welcome into your hallway with a simple drink station away from the dinner prep. Layer a cordless brass lamp, wine on ice, and a bowl of olives, and add a cedar candle by the door for a finishing touch. Keep your apron on, let everyone pour their own drinks, and step back to enjoy your very own Nancy Meyers Thanksgiving.

Beaverbrook and Jimmy Choo Announce Festive Takeover

Beaverbrook is joining forces with luxury accessory house Jimmy Choo for a special festive season, bringing together two British houses with a shared sense of occasion, each celebrated for craftsmanship, creativity and enduring glamour.

For more than a century, Beaverbrook has been a house defined by its guests, continuing the spirit of its former owner, Lord Beaverbrook, who welcomed statesmen, writers and stars of the screen to his Surrey estate for weekends of lively conversation, long lunches and country pursuits.

This winter, that spirit continues as Beaverbrook welcomes Jimmy Choo as its guest of honour from 10 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. At the heart of the partnership will be Beaverbrook's much-loved real-ice rink set against the rolling Surrey Hills, transformed with Jimmy Choo's distinctive aesthetic, playful co-branded moments, festive lighting, and warming drinks and treats from the rink-side hut. Coinciding with Jimmy Choo’s 30th anniversary, the takeover takes creative cues from the brand’s limited-edition Pearls of Wisdom capsule collection—a tribute to the pearl as the traditional symbol of a 30th wedding anniversary and an enduring house code—extending beyond the rink across Beaverbrook's centrepiece Christmas tree and central spaces in The House.

Hotel guests enjoy unlimited access to the rink, while non-residents can book Beaverbrook’s signature Skate & Dine packages to combine a 45-minute skate with dining at The Garden House, Mrs Beeton’s, the Pizzeria, or The Dining Room.
